Mothers Day- Are Gift Baskets Better Than Flowers?
There are two very common gifts that are given on Mothers day and they are gift Baskets And Flowers. They both have their own appeal and support. People who prefer gift baskets do so because they think that flowers will inevitably die and somehow or the other that doesn’t really translate in to ‘I love you mom’. People who prefer flowers do so because flowers are supposed to say it all, whether it’s a birthday, Valentine’s Day or mothers day, flowers are the gift to give.
There’s something wrong with the reasoning behind giving flowers as mothers day gifts. People give flowers because they’re supposed to be ‘The’ gift to give. It’s widely perceived that flowers, carnations to be precise, are the symbolic mother’s day gift when in reality, Anna Jarvis actually boycotted the holiday when flower companies began turning it in to a corporate holiday.
Then there’s the variety available when buying flowers. There may be different kinds of flowers but they really are still flowers and there isn’t a kind that won’t die. With gift baskets, you actually get different things, even in just one basket. Unlike flowers, you don’t need to know what is your mom’s favorite kind of Gift Basket but you do need to know which is your mom’s favorite flower and asking her that before mothers day is not only going to ruin the surprise but also it’ll hurt your mothers feelings. (You’re supposed to know what her favorite flower is and what her favorite color is).
With gift baskets, it’s completely different; there are plenty of themes although food themes in general and mothers day Fruit Baskets in particular are a very good choice. There is even a lot to choose from when it comes to fruit baskets. A new kind of Fruit Basket that is fast becoming popular is a Fruit Bouquet. They’re made of fruit but look like flowers and special mothers day arrangements are available for mothers day. The fruit is dipped in chocolate; the chocolate dipped strawberries and dipped pineapple slices shaped like daisies make a very unique and presentable gift and unlike flowers, your mom won’t have to throw them out; instead she’ll enjoy eating them.
As far as my choice and recommendation is concerned, I prefer gift baskets over flowers any day and for every holiday.
