Decorating Those Candles Easily by Krystal Bennion
Does your house look boring? Are you tired of using the same old pieces of furniture everyday? Do you feel that you need to have much more going, inside your room? One thing to perk things up and brighten your day is to use candles to accentuate your house. Candles are a symbol of new beginnings like birthday celebrations and anniversaries, and they also symbolize sad or happy endings, like a going-away party or death of a loved one. But besides the significance of candles in marking important events in our lives, candles are also interesting household decors.
You can always jazz your room with the candles’ pleasant scents, interesting candleholders, and ornaments and accents that surround those candles. Candles can be used as a centerpiece in tables. The dining table or the long table by the kitchen can be given more oomph with a good tablecloth, a table cloth centerpiece and a candle at the center, besides a small potted flower or a decorative, sculpted object.
There are many candles to choose from, with different shapes, sizes and colors. There are organic candles, pillar candles, tealight candles and floating candles. You can place them fire-resistant glass candleholders, or brass or metal candleholders. You can place candles on top of tables, coffee tables, vanity desk, cabinet or shelf. Beautify these candles with different cut outs made from paper, cardboard, glitters, sand, ribbons and other arts and crafts materials. You can use a sharp object or a cookie cutter to create stencils on these candles. Accentuate your candles with other ornaments such as beads, pearls, necklaces and vintage jewelry pieces. Place candles besides picture frame, vases, flower Bouquets or other interesting house decors.
If you have ever felt tired after a long hard day, wouldn’t it be nice to go home and relax to the fragrance of roses, lemongrass of woody tones? Candles can also be used as a stress reliever inside one’s home. Aromatherapy, an Asian and Arabian inspired practice which was carried over to the West, is a mind-body relaxation technique which induces changes in one’s brain and hormonal chemistry, in order to affect mood, thoughts, feelings, arousal, and emotions. When light up, organic candles such as spa candles or beeswax candles provide a pleasant – smelling aroma. The science of aromatherapy believes that scents and fragrances have the ability to improve one’s physical and psychological health, by improving its functioning through thought and emotion inducing scents.
