Unfortunately, there comes a time in just about everyone’s life when someone they love or care about becomes seriously ill or is involved in some sort of accident. If and when this occurs, most people respond by telling the ill or injured person to, “Get well soon!” However, most people believe that simply saying “get well soon” is not enough, and some sort of get well gift should be sent.
Sending a get well gift to someone who is ill or hurt is a great way of expressing deep sympathy and support. Flowers are a common gift to send to a home or a hospital, but there are also many other get well gift choices that will brighten anyone’s day. Flowers are nice, but they won’t last forever.
There are two main ways to deliver a get well gift to someone. A gift can either be delivered in person or sent via mail. It’s important to personally deliver a get well gift to someone if they live in close proximity. Mailing a gift to your next door neighbor, for example, is a little bit tacky. If a get well gift must be delivered out-of-state, it’s acceptable to mail it. However, using a priority or a speedy delivery service is recommended.
When a person becomes seriously ill or they are involved in an accident, sending a get well gift in a timely manner is essential. Nothing says, “I care about you, but not very much,” than sending a get well gift several weeks after the person become ill or hurt. It’s better to not send a gift at all than to send one too late.
For a generic get well gift, flowers or a plant are always acceptable. However, it can’t hurt to send a more creative get well gift to someone who may be truly touched and uplifted by a thoughtful and meaningful gift. Remember… the main purpose of a get well gift is to show support and good wishes, and an enlightening gift may actually help speed a person’s recovery.
Gift Ideas:
Games: Depending on the reason a get well gift is necessary, an assortment of games is a wonderful way to help a person who is confined to bed. While some illnesses might make a person too tired to play games, a person who is in bed due to a broken leg, for example, will appreciate this type of boredom busting gift.
Food: Everyone needs to eat, and a person who is recovering from an illness or injuries will usually crave yummy foods. There are many, many different types of gift Baskets that contain favorite fruits, candies, chocolates, and any other edible delicacy.
Pain Relief: Let’s face it… most people who are in need of a get well gift are probably in some sort of pain. There are many varieties of “pain relief” gift baskets available that contain items such as foods that are known to help ease discomfort, spa and bath items, and massaging slippers.
