Crepe Paper Flower Designs
Are you looking for some new crepe paper flower designs for your home decor? Do you have a basic centerpiece of paper flowers on every flat surface in your home already? Have you ever considered the endless design ideas that could add a dazzling design to those basic but beautiful centerpieces?
In this article we will look at a few crepe paper flower designs you can use to turn your ordinary paper flowers into one of a kind masterpiece. If you are just starting out making paper flowers then you will need a book on making paper flowers, crepe paper, and the tools and supplies listed in the book. If you are an old pro then you’re all set to go.
Normally when we make a crepe paper flower arrangement we use a vase or a container of some sort to hold the paper flowers in. With this project we are going to look at a few ideas that allow you to design arrangements in unique ways that do not include the vase or container.
Free Flowing Flowers – This flower design is commonly used at wedding receptions. However, you can also use it in your home. The design of the flowers is intended to enclose something such as a candle. You make your desired flowers in the colors of your choice (minus the stems) and form a circle around the candle or what ever object you want. The flowers can be adjusted as needed and rearranged to make a circle, square, oval or even a heart shape. Aside from a candle you can place a photo frame, a small basket of fruit, a candy jar or any knick-knack of your liking in the center of the flowers. The paper flowers add a little color and flair to the object they are surrounding.
Floral Shapes – Certainly you have seen flowers arranged to form an object. A few good “starters” are a butterfly, an angel, a star, or a heart. These are the easiest shapes to make. You can allow them to be free flowing and in the shape that you desire or you can attach the flowers to a piece of cardboard and hang them on your wall. The flowers should be small (they are easier to work with.) Once you have your paper flowers made just arrange them into the desired shape. If you are going to attach them to a piece of cardboard, cut out the cardboard in the shape of the object you want to use this will also work as a pattern. Using a clear drying glue attach the flowers to your cardboard.
Wreaths – A door wreath can be used anytime of the year. However, they are most popular around the holidays. Choose a theme for your wreath, make your flowers based on the theme and attach them to a circular Styrofoam wreath you will need the stems for this project, just cut them according to the size you need to inset them into the wreath and have your flowers mesh or have them slightly sticking out.
For really creative people you can create animal shapes, flags and numerous other objects. Crepe paper flower designs can be used for any occasion and really liven up a room!
